NOTES ON THIS SIDE: Aside from the cringey folk pastiche of Rocky Raccoon and the whole "Satirical Baroque Pop About Animal Farm" shtick of Piggies, this side is amazing. Very influential batch of songs to me personally. Definitely my favorite songs on this record to play, though I'm not ready to call this side better than 3. This is really McCartney's side, in my mind. That said, the two Lennon songs are essential, and even Ringo has a good one! Don't Pass Me By is one of the two songs Ringo ever wrote for The Beatles (the other being Octopus's Garden) and they're both great - so technically he has the highest batting average in the group with 2 for 2. The last two tracks on this side are the highlights - two of the most sophisticated and emotional songs I've ever heard. Blackbird is probably the most famous from this batch, but it can't hold a candle to I Will, in my opinion.
